As you know the seagate HD  of my wife’s MacBook is dead .

The good news is that I have upgraded to leopard my wife’s macbook and started Time Machine on her external HD..

I bought a new HD and I started the recovery:

• You have to change the broken HD with the new one, here you can find a fantastic video (in italian) by Hiroshi who explain  you How To change it.
• than we have to boot our MacBook from the Leopard DVD
• Booted we choose ours languages than we open Disk Utility and we format the new HD.
• Done it ! well now we come back with back arrow to the window to choose the language (first time I did not do it and my leopard didn’t mount the new HD )
• Go ahead with next arrows and from the utility Menu we choose Restore from Time Machine.
• We plug in the external HD (the one we used for Time Machine) we check it and then we choose the backuo we want to restore (Remember full backup only may be restored)
• Go ahed and we select ours new HD and Star the Time Machine recovery.

Now you can go to have a rest, Leopard will do everything for you no need of yours assistance .

For my wife’s macbook it tooks less than an hour.

Everything works very good !!

Time Machine is FANTASTIC.

I suggest you to use  Time Machine !!!
